Roald Dahl Day 2017

Roald Dahl Day is celebrated on the 13th September each year as this is Dahl's birthday. This year sees the 17th year of Roald Dahl Day with many events being held around the country. At Langford Village, Years 1 -3 celebrated the day by looking at and learning one of his poems from 'Dirty Beasts'. In Wrens, we learnt 'The Lion'. We read the poem and watched retellings by famous actors. We also made lion masks and acted out parts of the poem.

In the afternoon, the children used percussion instruments to act out the poem with music. Each class then read out their poem, showed their masks in a special assembly for Years 1 -3. We loved showing the other classes our masks and read out a section of the poem. We also enjoyed listening to the poems performed by other classes.
