Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

What a lovely weekend we have all had enjoying the sunshine. The children have been telling me what they got up to over the weekend.

On Tuesday, in the rain, we saw the Year 4 trip off to Stone Farm. The bus driver explained to me that when he left Devon the weather was lovely, so let’s hope it carried on during the week. I am sure that they will have had a super time.

Here is the final timetable for our 20th birthday celebration week:

Saturday 21st May 20th Birthday Fun Day, school field 12 noon – 4.00pm
Sunday 22nd May 20th Birthday Family Fun Run, at school 11.00am
Monday 23rd May 20 years Reunion, school hall – ex staff and Governors 7.00pm – 9.30pm
Tuesday 24th May School Open Day, community event 10.00am – 2.00pm
Wednesday 25th May Seniors Tea Party, community event 2.00pm – 3.30pm
Thursday 26th May School Pupils 90’s disco, school hall
Friday 27th May Whole School Picnic 12.15 – 1.30pm

I am enclosing as promised a Seniors Tea Party invitation to a local senior for your child/children to deliver.

There will be a non-school uniform day on Friday 20th May for contributions brought in by children for the 20th Birthday Fun Day (please see information from FOLVS).

Thank you for all your support.

Class Photos

Nathan Allan will be in school on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th June to take class photos from Nursery to Year 6.

Whole School

On Monday 20th June there will be a whole school photo taken.

Staff Vacancies

Cygnets Pre-school are currently advertising staff vacancies. If you are interested please see details about the vacancies either in the Pre-school or at the front reception of school. Fresh Start are recruiting ‘Catering Crew’ on both regular hours and flexible hours (bank) contracts for our local schools. Please see poster displayed around school.

Road Safety

As you know, it gets pretty busy on the roads and pavements around the school at the start and end of the school day. As a gentle reminder to all, if you are crossing Peregrine Way to get to school, please cross the road using our Lollipop Lady. If you are dropping children off by car, please use the lay by directly in front of school and not the areas in front of the school gates. This should help to ensure the safety of all at these busy times.

20th Birthday Family Fun Run

Date: Sunday 22nd May 2016

Time: 11am start, meet at 10.50am

Place: Langford Fields, between Old and New Langford on the grass area before the main bridge you cross to town.

This is a free family event open to the whole community, young and old, so why not bring the whole family down and run, jog or walk your way around the 1 mile course. All you will need is your sportswear, a drink, a smile and if you can bring the sun that will be perfect. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 22nd May.

Thank you

Wendy Hunter

Whole School Picnic

Date: Friday 27th May

To help us with the organisation of the whole school picnic on the field, would it be possible, if you have a picnic blanket at home to send it in with your child on that Friday morning.

School Meals

Great news - the way in which you order school meals is changing, please look out for letters coming out early next week in book bags.

Thursday 19th May (Pizza Day)

Friday 27th May (whole School Picnic)

The deadline for ordering these meals has passed, so if you have not placed an order could you please make sure your child has got a packed lunch with them on those days.
