Friday 7th April 2017

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

It has been so lovely seeing instances of really good weather over the past few weeks. Doesn't the blossom look beautiful out at the front of school.

It was a real pleasure to attend the Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday 2nd April and the weather developed well as the day went on. My four year old grandson enjoyed meeting everybody and ate a number of delicious cakes as well as taking part in the raffle for cuddly toys. He spent all afternoon talking to his Mum, Dad and Gramps about it. Thank you.

I hope that you have a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing all back at school relaxed on the 24th April.

As a whole school we would like to take part in the National "Walk to School Week" taking place on 15th - 19th May.

Best wishes

Mrs Maureen Thompson

Shropshire Manor Adventure was one of the best experiences of my life. From the tasty food (one of the best parts; I'm very happy we didn't go hungry!), to the awesome activities, everything was great. The instructors were really kind and encouraging, even when we wanted to give up!

My favourite activity was the underground maze - even though the muddy water flooded over the top of my boots! It was most enjoyable and I'd give anything to go in there again! Another incredible activity was the High Ropes - I loved it because there were challenges along the way.

We would recommend this to all children who want to have memories for life of adventures that will blow your mind!

From Miss Stott and Mrs Wing

Your children were a real credit to the school, and to you, throughout the whole week. We had so many compliments about their manners, behaviour and support of one another through the challenging activities. It was a pleasure to take them away for the week. We are so proud of all they achieved! A big thank you to Mr Robinson, Mrs Land, Miss Scott and Donna Biskup for giving up their week to join us! SATs Revision and Breakfast Club

Year 6 will be bring home a revision guide (just 20 minutes each day maximum) to complete Mon-Fri over the Easter holidays. The guide and answer booklet will be available on the school website under the class pages.

During the week of SATs (Mon 8th-Thurs 11th May), we will be inviting all of Year 6 to join us for a 'breakfast club'. This will take place in the school hall from 8:15-8:45 am. We will provide a breakfast of fresh fruit, cereal, toast, fruit juice etc. The aim of this club is to help settle the children into the day with a good breakfast. We know that they tend to eat more when with friends and they can eat as much as they like! Children need to be in school promptly every day during SATS week in full school uniform. More information will be sent home about this after the Easter holiday.

Sports Day

Sports Days for Years 1-6 will be held on Wednesday 12th July this year. More information will be sent out in the Summer Term; please put the date in your diary if you would like to come along and cheer the children on! Should the weather pose a problem, Thursday 13th July is being held as a reserve date.

School Meals

Deadline for ordering school meals for after Easter is Tuesday 18th April 2017. Fresh Start are now having a Deli option.

Cross Country Finals - Tilsley Park

The third and final round of the Oxfordshire Cross Country Competition took place on Friday 31st March at Tilsley Park in Abingdon.

For the first time we had qualified with three teams from the four competitions to be held. We have been practicing all through the Autumn, Winter and Spring terms, however, our route is very flat and short, so we usually have to complete between five and seven laps.

At Tilsley Park the route is very different and very challenging, steep slopes, crossing bridges and water and deep ravines, so this was a real challenge.

All children were a credit to us and ran with passion and enjoyment.

The Year 3/4 boys team were placed around about 4/5th:

  • Liam Ayres
  • Harley Gardner
  • Lucas Griffith-Brown
  • Kristian Hayes
  • Sam Lawrence
  • Maddox Moore
  • Thomas Styles

The Year 3/4 girls team had an individual 2nd place Isabelle Webb and a team place of 2nd:

  • Isla Dunn
  • Maya Evans
  • Jessica Garside
  • Charlie O'Hara
  • Isabelle Webb
  • Ava Wilkinson
  • Lucy Willoughby

The Year 5/6 boys team had an individual place of 3rd for Oliver Webb and an amazing 1st place team with, this was a repeat of last year's result with the same boys. Congratulations.

  • Sam Davies
  • Oliver Durrant
  • Elliott Hayes
  • Otis Leonard
  • Adam Smith
  • Oliver Webb
  • Edward Willoughby
  • Harry Wynne-Jones

I would like to thank all the parents for their support and their fabulous children.

Mrs Maureen Thompson
